One of the few book about three components distillation

This is one of the few book dealing with three components distillation. The subject of this book is actual for solvent recovery, pharmaceutical plants, fine chemical industries. It is recommended for professionals in these fields and for graduates with a strong background on distillation.

Good suplement for Worship Pastors who are also songwriters

There's a growing trend in contemporary Christian churches where the worship pastor(s) introduce original songs to their congregation. While not obligated to, many worship pastors have a creative side that bubbles up in their private worship and other times and for many there is a difficult bridge to cross to take their God-inspired and God-driven musical ideas and melodic prayers and put them in a form suitable for corporate worship; that's where God Songs comes in.

As a musician and worshiper who is not a worship pastor (but very interested in the subject), I feel the book does a good job of laying a foundation for the basics of what makes a good worship song and how a great worship song may differ from other forms of popular music and does (for the most part) a good job validating the ideas presented. It also has a chapter on music theory that focuses in on theory in relation to contemporary worship songs, I found this part of the book especially interesting. The stories behind some of todays most famous worship songs were also very good.

The book assumes you know how to play an instrument (piano or guitar) and you already know the basics of music theory; it assumes you're already a songwriter looking to expand your knowledge of worship songwriting.

Price gouge much?

I found this book initially on leadworship.com - it's $20 plus shipping. I was hoping that I could get it on Amazon with my prime shipping and saw all these seller pricing it at $50+. Is it signed by the author or something?? If not (or even still), the sellers must think I'm crazy if I'm going to spend $50+ plus shipping in order to buy a book that may or may not have the CD, etc with it. Really like the product - lots of useful information, some I already knew and this just confirmed that. Just look for another source before paying this much for it.

Loved the book, wish the subtitle were different

I think the previous review was great, so I will only add a few things from my perspective. I loved this book. I have been a church music director for the past two and a half years, and absolutely love Paul Baloche's music. It was such a joy to read this book, to learn about how some of the most popular Christian songs came to be, and to just hear from some of the greats in CCM. I would say that the book is dominated with how to write songs. That wasn't really what I was looking for when I started the book, but I definitely feel inspired to start trying.

I wish there were a sequel to this book about how to select worship songs and put them together into sets. Of course I know the basics: similar keys, similar themes, etc. However, I would have liked to hear from these great worship leaders about their methods on how they put together a worship list on a given Sunday. I really do think that it could fill another whole book!

Great Lewis Compilation

This book could properly be called "The C.S. Lewis Reader," because it is a collection of Lewis' essays, sermons, and excerpts from his books. The writings are arranged by topic. On the plus side, this format allows the reader to find out Lewis' thoughts about various topics. His brilliant mind tackles such issues as life on other planets, atheism, the Trinity, and over 120 other engaging topics. The negative is that many of the excerpts are usually only two or three paragraphs long and this does not allow a person access to Lewis' whole opinion on that particular subject. Still, the book includes an index that shows which books the essays were taken from. This allows the reader to explore Lewis' views more in depth. Overall, I highly recommend this book. It acts as an excellent introduction to the thought of C.S. Lewis for a new reader or a handy topical reference for those already familiar with him.

A good compendium of Lewis' works

This collection of Lewis' essays is a good read. It's well-categorized and as such, makes for a good "bathroom book". You can open it randomly, read a bit on a given topic and set it aside.
And it contains some of Lewis' best work and pithy sayings and profound wisdom. Lots of quotable quotes and also includes ideas that can be life changing if you let them hang around in your consciousness long enough.
I love "Jack's" writings anyway and this book is just a good collection of his best ideas.
However, my #1 favorite Lewis book is "The Screwtape Letters" which should be read in it's entirety.

This is an excellent compilation of the best of C. S. Lewis taken from most of his greatest works. Lewis is a philosopher of great depth but expresses himself in flawless and simple terms...always getting to the heart of the matter in an understandable and inspirational way. If you can't read all of his works, this is a great book to see the highlights of them.

an encyclopedic recipe collection ... but only if you combine fruits and vegetables

First, this is a gorgeous book. Beautiful photographs of almost all the recipes, and compact yet comprehensive sections on juicing (and smoothie) ingredients, suggested juicing regimens, and recipe recommendations for specific ailments or nutrients. The majority of recipes are for juices, but recipes for smoothies (with and without dairy or nut/seed milk) and quenchers (juice blends diluted with sparkling water or other beverage) are also included.

I'm new to juicing, but I've been drinking green smoothies (blended fruit and leafy greens -- no dairy) for months now. Juicing seemed like the perfect adjunct to the smoothies -- I wanted to add more vegetables to my diet. If you've done any research about juicing or smoothies, you've seen the debate about combining fruits and vegetables. If you're not a fan of combining them, this is not the book for you -- virtually all of these recipes combine the two food groups. (While I don't generally combine them myself, my current favorite juice is Natalia Rose's Life Force Powerade -- kale, cucumber or celery, beets, ginger, apples and lemon. Drinking this the first thing in the morning is an amazing start to the day.)

Having said that, this book is an inspiration to me as a juicing newbie, and gives me plenty of ideas for both my juices and green smoothies. BUT -- much of this content is duplicated in Ms. Savona's book, The Big Book of Juices and Smoothies: 365 Natural Blends for Health and Vitality Every Day (The Big Book of...Series) (Spiral-bound). Until recently this was available here on amazon.com in a spiral-bound format -- a much more condensed version, and probably easier to use.

Either of these books is worth a look -- I think anyone interested in juices or smoothies would benefit on some level.

Creative Juicing

In the past few months I've read quite a few books on juicing. "The Big Book of Juices" is one of the most creative books I've seen so far. The fruit and vegetable blends are especially delicious. Who would have thought that grapefruit would go so well with carrots and celery. I've also never seen anyone blend broccoli with pears. Yet these all seem to work well. I especially enjoyed making the juice with passionfruit, orange juice and seltzer.

While you need a juicer for most of the recipes there are also some recipes for your blender. If you are feeling adventurous you might enjoy making a spicy drink made from chai tea, peaches, vanilla and yogurt. Most of the smoothie recipes use yogurt. The only thing you have to do first is to juice some of the fruit before you add it to the blender with the yogurt. Other fruits like mango and papaya are better just added to the blender as they don't juice as well. Specific instructions are not given on each recipe so you have to read the instructions at the start of the book and at the start of each chapter. Instead of instructions the author just gives a few sentences to inspire you to make the drink. This works well for individuals who have already been juicing for a few months but is not as helpful for someone new to juicing. From my own experience I learned to peel most fruits, especially citrus fruits. You will also want to peel mangoes, pineapple and papaya.

The last section in the book contains some recipes using sparkling mineral water. There are also some recipes for teas made with fresh herbs. There is an interesting tea made with licorice and mint. If you are looking for something to calm you at the end of the day there is a tea made with lemongrass, cardamom, orange zest, chamomile and mint. Unlike the other recipes, instructions are given for most of the recipes in the "Thirst Quenchers" section.

The recipes using lime sorbet are perfect for the summer if you don't mind a little sugar with your fruit drinks. For the most part all the drinks are sweetened with the natural fruit juice combinations. Quite a few of the drinks are flavored with ginger. You can always add a packet of stevia which is a natural sweetener.

This is a book you will use day after day! The pictures of the juices are beautiful and you might be intrigued by all the different shaped glasses the author found to display the juices in. If you have been juicing at least a few months then you will love this book. If you are just starting your juicing journey, try a few of the books listed at the end of this review - they were very helpful to me when I started juicing.

Great for juices and smoothies!

This book is awesome for the casual juice and smoothie maker. The book features over 400 drink recipes usually accompanied by a high resolution picture of the finished product. The recipes are great but what I found invaluable is how well certain ingredients go together that I would never had guessed without the guidance of the book. This not only led me to try new flavors but create several new recipes of my own that I keep in the back of the book using post it notes.

The one flaw I see with this book is that some of the recipes are a little redundant. Instead of adding in the notes section something along the lines of "Substitute carrots with cucumbers for a more refreshing drink," the book has an entirely new page of the exact same recipe but with the carrots swapped for cucumbers and a new name for it. There's only a handful of recipes like this but it had alerted me enough to comment about it.
