Book is Great BUT Major Error on Publisher's Part

I am reading this book right now. Although I found the Preface VERY hard to get through, I am really enjoying the book itself.
However, I was very disappointed to see a major error on the part of the publisher. Chapters 1 and 2 are the same EXACT things, even though the titles of the Chapters are different. Through google, I was able to determine that this is NOT how it is supposed to be. The Chapter 1 on google is totally different than what my edition shows. For the amount of money I paid for this book, I would expect better from the publisher. This is the reason for my lower than average rating. The title of Chapter 1 is "How the Bohemian Club was Formed" and now thanks to this error I will never know how it WAS formed!
However, I am pleasantly pleased by the writing style. I was thinking that an 1800s French book would be tough to read, but it's a comical book that has totally kept my interest so far. And I have to admit the design of the book is quite nice with the colorful photo of the cover. The book almost looks like a mini-textbook.

outrageously bad edition

Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are identical. The book is missing the real Chapter 1, so I feel that it is a big ripoff. The typography is amateurish (typewriter quotes, no real long dashes, a blank line between every paragraph--what is this, a business letter?). This is evidently a publisher that knocks together books that are in the public domain without the least attention to quality. I can't believe they charge so much for so little.

The lovely, painful, poetic source for Puccini's great opera

Operatic history is full of inexplicable bloopers -- for example, isn't it creepy to think that Victor Hugo wrote the horrible play that Verdi's (quite wonderful) "Ernani" was based on, or, even worse, that Schiller was responsible for the hideous drivel that turned into the same great composer's "I Masnadieri"?? Anyhow, with this kind of precedent, I think La Vie de Boheme of Murger is a kind of minor classic -- a tender, lyrical, silly and sad novel full of real feeling. I think it's a crime that this novel should be out of print, while any number of awful romance novelists who couldn't evoke the character of a Mimi or a Schaunard if you gave them a million dollars routinely GET a million dollars for barely literate bodice-rippers. EVERYBODY who loves Puccini's "Boheme" should read this charming, touching and unpretentious original.
