In The Passion of Jesus and Its Hidden Meaning, he explains the significance of such Biblical events as the Garden of Gethsemane, St. Peter's denial, why Christ chose crucifixion, and many more, drawing from the Old and New Testaments. Father Groenings' work was originally published circa 1908 by the B. Herder Book Company, Missouri, as The History of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, with the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur. It was also reproduced and published by TAN in 1987.

Classic Catholic Teaching

I read this book every year during lent. It was written in the late 1890's and translated and published in America in the early 1900's. So a couple of social concepts are obsolete (or maybe not) and the English is dated, but the teachings and insights are classic and Catholic. However, it is not a an easy read, and I feel one needs to read it thoughtfully and slowly to really let it sink in. I have found it to be very powerful and enlightening, and best of all it has helped me develop a better understanding of our Lord's suffering and passion. An excellent spiritual read.

I used this as a book for Lenten reflections, prayer and meditations. What I received was a very profound journey through Christ's Passion. The amount of suffering Jesus endured for us, was beyond human. There were times when the knowledge of what Christ was doing and why, had to be so
intense that only His true essence of God and Man could have allowed Him to go on. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand the reasons for Our Lord's deep sacrifice for us.

Thank you Manning Publishers for making this book available to me. It could not have come along at a better time. I was scheduled to do an online Cordova certification and was not feeling particularly comfortable with the study material provided. This book, however, was awesome. The author has an easy writing style with a touch of humour here and there which makes for an easy read.

The author knows his subject very well and is able to relay that knowledge in a clear and concise way that made it very easy for me to gain an understanding of the subject. This book is jam-packed with working examples, which is great.

I would recommend it to anyone, in fact I already have. Any book that imparts at least one pearl of useful information/knowledge is, in my mind, a good book. This one imparts many.

About the Author
Yuri and Katrin Shumakov - a stellar artist-duo, professional origami creators, who started their origami journey in France in 1989 and since then they unfold this art in a heretofore unseen way! They have created amazing paper world ORILAND with incredible fantasy Kingdoms that impress with rich detail of majestic castles, abundance of paper flora and busy life of little paper dwellers. Their newest kingdoms Toy-ronto and Albuquerque combine fantasy and reality together, presenting a whimsical artistic rendition of iconic sights of these cities. Another beautiful and elegant aspect of origami they brought to life is ORIBANA - a marriage of two Japanese arts: Origami and Ikebana. By combining these remarkable art-forms, in early 1990s Katrin and Yuri began to create paper flower arrangements in paper vases and thought up a distinctive name for it - Oribana. Since then they designed more than 50 charming oribana-compositions with a broad variety of origami flowers and vases. Being prolific origami authors they created more than a thousand of origami designs from simple forms and cute characters to complex dinosaurs' skeletons and architecture that all have a distinctive Oriland style. Psychologists by education, Katrin and Yuri have studied how origami helps children learn. Their Ph.D scientific work shows that by doing origami, children develop better use of both hands and that origami can improve creativity and intelligence in children ages 7 to 11. They believe that origami is "entertainment for the soul, gymnastics for the mind, and training for the hands." In 1999, Yuri and Katrin received the Silver Award in the ThinkQuest International Competition for their 'Travel to Oriland' website and it brought them and their team to Universal Studios Hollywood for the Award Ceremony! Their Oriland.com website became a winner of the Childnet Award that was given them in Paris, France. Both these projects were acknowledged as high quality creative, educational and fun websites for children and adults. Yuri and Katrin have written more than 30 origami books and instructional CDs, and their works have been exhibited in many countries including several venues in the United States, France, Spain and Canada. The Shumakovs also extend their artistic talents to the realm of photography and music. Katrin is a winner of the Toronto Photo Contest 2010. Yuri is enjoying music composing and sound design. They live in Toronto, Canada, love yoga and a healthy style of life.

Details - The instruction and pictures are pretty good. The precision of folds must be of the highest order for good results (so if you are a novice or intermediate folder you may want to think twice before pursuing). The models are not overly complicated, but must be very precisely folded for good results.

It would be good for a you-tube or video companion to this book as some of the transition folds and intermediate models are not as intuitive from the diagrams.

Overall, an enjoyable book with loads of beautiful designs.

Good starting point for education professionals

Whereas I'm an Ornstein fan, I expected to like this book. It covers the main subjects of education administration while providing a lifetime's worth of references for further reading and research. In some ways, this book is a summary of the growing body of literature up to the point when it was published.

About the Author

Kenneth R. White, PhD, APRN-BC, FACHE, FAAN, is the University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center endowed professor of nursing and associate dean for strategic partnerships and innovation in the School of Nursing at UVA. He also holds joint appointments in the UVA Darden School of Business and McIntire School of Commerce. He has more than 40 years experience in healthcare organizations in clinical, administrative, governance, and consulting capacities. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing as well as a Fellow, former Regent, and former member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

J. Stephen Lindsey, MHA, FACHE,has been a principal with Ivy Ventures, LLC, since 2003 and focuses on growth opportunities and business development. Before joining Ivy Ventures, he served as the CEO of HCA Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, Virginia for many years and held the position of chairman of Manorhouse Retirement Centers. He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he taught executive skills and coordinated the residency program for a number of years. Rosen has chosen an attractive mixture of puns, tongue twisters, riddles, sayings, and chants that he promises will leave readers "...baffled, bamfoozled, bewitched, and bedazzled." Some rhymes are familiar, some are not; most are taken from sources that are no longer in print. The selections are scattered across oversized pages and embellished with bright, childlike illustrations that catch the humor and hint at the solutions to the riddles. This book is so punny, kids don't realize they're learning!

I'm a preservice Language Arts teacher, and since starting my reading block have rediscovered children's books. This was one I *had* to buy. I love wordplay, so I worked it into a literary session with my student. I had planned on reading 4 selections, but she wanted to read the entire book -- so we did! I always use student enthusiasm when I can. There are poems that "teach" phonics, punctuation, spelling, etc. This is more than a grammar book masked as a fun book. It's a fun book in and of itself.
